Our 13th Annual Mar Torpey Memorial Tournament took place yesterday at the Cragg and was another fantastic occasion.
A total of 36 players took part, with Seanie Withycombe’s Knockadoon team — Seanie, Emmett Slattery, Glen McNamara, Liam Whelan and Fionn Ryan overcoming Daragh Corry’s Tyreda team, made up of Daragh, Daragh O’Gorman, Gearoid Austin, Jasper Noonan, Conor McFadden and Calum Cahir, in a thrilling final that went to extra time and penalties.
The winners’ shield was presented to Seanie by Brian Torpey, brother of the late Mar Torpey, TUAFC’s first Secretary.
Seanie also finished as top scorer with an impressive 10 goals, just edging Daragh by one. Conor McFadden was deservedly named Player of the Tournament.
Finally - thanks once again to Roger Duff for capturing the event. All his photos can be viewed on
