Corofin v Tulla u17s 02.04.2022
Before the game players and parents came together to hold a silent tribute to their friend Ger Gunning and a show of solidarity and support for Dillion, their dear friend and team mate.
This was always going to be a tough match on the Corofin community field hill against a resilient Corofin Harps. The plan was: uphill in the first half - keep it tight; then more attacking play going downhill in the second half. Sure enough Adam won the toss so uphill in the first half. Despite this, Tulla looked the most likely to score creating a number of clear cut chances, with Simon in goals without a whole lot to do other than take goal kicks as the ball ran away from Corofin.
Going down hill in the second half, Tulla were mainly in control of the game, creating chance after chance that Corofin managed to keep out with last ditch blocks in and around the 6 yard box. Added to this was the threat of Corofin breaking which they did do on a few occasions and but for the determination of the Tulla defence, could have caused a mishap. The breakthrough came on 80 minutes when Tulla, yet again, worked the ball into the box, where it fell to the determined Eoin, who finished into the bottom right corner. Tulla’s skill in game management then came to the fore with Corofin only threatening once after the goal and Tulla creating more chances.
