FAI Youth Cup Result :- Inter Kenmare 1 : 8 TUFC
Our youth team travelled to Kenmare today to take on Inter Kenmare in the FAI Youth cup. Having dispatched Killorglin in the previous round, we were on the road again. Not knowing much about our opponents, it was a cautious start from our boys. As we grew into the game, we started creating chances. Conor McF had a goal harshly ruled out for an “infringement on the keeper”. Frankie headed against the post , Darragh B hitting the cross bar with a spectacular long distance strike. After creating most of the opening chances, it was the home team that took the lead when we failed to deal with a long ball, their impressive 10 got in to beat Gearoid. We stayed at it and were back on level terms with about 35 minutes played. Darragh B got his scoring going. It was going to be a special day for him. 1:1 at halftime.
Second half wasn’t too old when Darragh got his second & third. Not to be out done, Adam got on the score sheet with the most impressive of the opening four goals finishing with a bullet of a half volley, across the keeper into the top corner. Daragh was back at it again getting his fourth and our fifth. The ever hard working Frankie was up next, scrambling the ball home from close range. What happened next can only be described as unbelievable and it had to be Darragh B that came up with it! Winning the ball back about 25 yards out, faked a shot off his right, turning back onto his left and then with a rabona from 18 yards left the whole attendance gob smacked. It was a goal that deserved to be caught on camera to justify the skill. Conor W finished off the scoring with a neat side foot finish.
The score line was impressive, but justified. The day will be remembered forever for anyone who witnessed “that goal”. Coming off the pitch the Kenmare boys were just congratulating Darragh one after another which showed how good it was.
