Both teams did their best to play good football in this entertaining game, that the wind did it’s best to confound. Tulla started against the wind and this probably suited them as they could play their passing game without the ball getting away from them and indeed enjoyed much of the possession demonstrating good attacking patterns of play. With Cathal McNamara deputising in goal, there were also two 2006s making their u17 debut-Sean Cunningham and Cormac Hale, both played a significant part in the game. The first goal came after 30 mins, a move down the left was cut back to David, arriving bang on time to finish low from the edge of the area. The second arrived via a penalty won by Stephen and dispatched by James. Shortly after Cathal showed his goalkeeping talents by getting down sharply to his right after Coole were also awarded a penalty.
The second half was different altogether with Tulla working hard to play, and the wind doing it’s best to stop them. Coole continued to provide a threat on the occasions they got forward, so the Tulla nerves were settled on 65 mins when 2006 Jake Thomas finished from a corner that Coole failed to clear. With the remaining substitutes all coming on, the game was put beyond doubt on the 80th minute when a move down the right was crossed; Stephen stepped over and James finished clinically. Welcome to the 2006s lads who have joined this panel, all 18 players contributed.
