A sad end to our monthly committee meeting last night as Mike Hoey, our Chairman, announced that he was finishing up with his caretaking role in Cragg later this month. Mike has been the face of Tulla to so many of us, players and coaches and supporters. Mike was our caretaker/maintenance man/pitch consultant/fixture organiser/carpenter etc. and as Barry said at our meeting last night, a friend. He always made sure the pitches were in wonderful condition and minded them like his own. He was always a pleasure to deal with, he treated every coach with respect and tried to accommodate all the various demands of his role with integrity and patience. He was the man that opened the gates in the morning and, when he didn't do it himself, he was the man that rang you to make sure that they were closed at night!
We hope that Mike will now be able to spend more time at home and in the Cragg enjoying himself watching the football! We're sure he will still keep an eye on the pitches and he will of course continue to be active as our Chairman. We wish the best of luck to Julian and Malcolm as they step into his shoes.
The club made a small presentation to acknowledge his time in the role and Mike's wife Carol and daughter Edel joined us for the presentation at the end of our meeting.
Thanks Mike
