A great team performance in this close and exciting semi-final meeting between 2 teams wanting to play good soccer. One of those rare occasions when everyone rises to the challenge and makes a valuable contribution. Tulla had the better of the early exchange and were unfortunate not to get a couple of early goals. Eventually the goal came from a wonder strike of a free kick from George Young. In the run up to half time, Avenue got one goal back then just before the half time whistle took the lead after a scramble in the penalty box. From the start of the second half, Tulla took the game to Avenue, though it wasn’t until the last 10 minutes that Adam McNamara equalised from a corner from David O’Donnell. To extra time, the game ebbed and flowed. Though overall Tulla probably had the best of the game, Avenue created a number of good chances, could have scored again, but for the efforts of our defence and goal keeper.

So on to the dreaded penalty shoot out. 5 brave volunteers got ready and both teams were taking good penalties, until the Avenue 4th, which Simon Kilker saved then went on to score the 5th for Tulla to go through 5-4.

A big vote of gratitude to the fantastic support the team received, not only from the ever-present parents, but from other club people as well. Looking forward to the final in the County grounds 7pm on Wednesday 6th July.
