Following a five year break from the club tradition of hosting club soccer camps facilitated by the club coaches there was a welcome return to this initiative. A pre-camp workshop for coaches in advance of the camp was well-attended and paid huge dividends as seen in the quality of the coaching delivery on the camp.
The players excitement and enthusiasm was notable on arrival at the registration desk where Doris and Rhianne ensured all were welcomed with a smile and checked in a timely fashion.
Following a welcome from their coaches and course coordinator fun ensued where critical, basic skills were delivered in a professional manner by club coaches Kevin Perill, Clive Slater, Alan Kavanagh, Eoin McCarthy and Tomas Ruane, Niall Reynolds and Doris Vaughan and eight Junior coaches including Hilary Kearns, Chaoilfhionn Madden, Daragh Baker, Rhianne Ryan, Gearoid Austin, Glen McNamara, Emily Perill and Cormac Hale as they continue on their coaching development journey.
The weather Gods were also certainly in our favour, looking down on over 50 players and 15 coaches under blue skies and temperatures in the low twenties for the first of, we hope, many bank holiday Monday camps.
Following a wrap-up and a coaching debrief at the end of the camp it was clear the camp was a huge success which we hope to further build on for the August Bank Holiday Monday. More details to follow. The club Is very grateful for the hard work and enthusiasm of camp co-ordinator Damian Hawkins, both in preparation, and on the day.
