Tulla Blue U11 reached the shield final tonight beating Newmarket Red in a tense encounter. Newmarket opened the scoring early on, and Tom Hayes soon replied for Tulla with a great header from a corner. Steven Kelly put Tulla in front with a brilliant finish after some great trickery on the wing from CJ O Doherty. Tulla pushed on and Tom Hayes grabbed his second just before half time. Newmarket responded in the second half, but some great saves from Ben Fahy and gallant defending from Rory Stritch , Conan O Mullane and Lorcan Williams thwarted their efforts. Newmarket finally got a second, but Tulla responded again and had some good chances from Gareth McDonnell , Igor Schulze and Zak Lattimore. Great defending in midfield from Charlie Moroney, Steven Kelly and Tom Hayes saw Tulla through to the final whistle. A final in the County grounds on Sunday 3rd September at 5pm now awaits the Tulla boys.
