An early start to avoid the worst of the storm had the lads in Newmarket for 9am. Playing against a strong wind in the first half, we defended well, with Darragh O’G, Eric, Daragh R & Edeni, + Paddy & Kieran in front, a solid unit. Colm doing well behind them, off his line to tidy up anything over the top. Up front we were unlucky not to take a chance or two, so 0:0 @ HT.
The 2nd half started with us on the front foot but our opponents were putting up stubborn resistance and were creating some chances themselves. The opening had to come, however, and with 5 min left, Paul cut in from the right and from outside the box, with his left foot, hammered the ball to the net. A few scary moments followed but we held out for the 3 points.
